The United States Environmental Protection Agency defines Aboveground Storage Tanks (ASTs) as tanks or other containers that are above ground, partially buried, bunkered, or in a subterranean vault. The majority of such storage tanks contain motor fuels, petroleum solvents, heating oil, lubricants, and used oil. As these storage tanks can be found everywhere from airports and school bus barns to hospitals and automotive repair shops, a major concern is that product spills have the potential to contaminate community water supplies and soil.

Improperly installed aboveground storage tanks can routinely result in the loss of product, and an impact to the environment, costing thousands of dollars or more per year, per tank, that could have been saved through proper site engineering.

At Freedom Environmental Services, we stand ready to assist you with system design and specifications, spill prevention control engineering, and the development of all required State and Federal spill contingency plans.
